Building on work presented at the International Bone Research Symposium in Strasbourg, France, in November 2007, this text provides an overview of the principles and techniques for closed and surgical treatment of condylar neck and head fractures.
Diagnosis and treatment options are explained in relation to the anatomic, functional, and biomechanical principles of the mandibular condyle, so clinicians can form their own opinions about the best way to treat condylar fractures. A section of special topics contains chapters on endoscopic open reduction and internal fixation of condylar fractures, pediatric condylar fractures, and postoperative physiotherapy after condylar fracture surgery.
The art program offers color clinical and surgical photos, color computer-generated illustrations, and color and b&w images. Kleinheinz is affiliated with the Department of Cranio- and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospital, Muenster, Germany. Meyer teaches in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospital of Besancon, France. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
