From Lectures to Lab : Electronics of Devices and Circuits-Essentials
Auteur : Thomas ZIMMER , Sylvain SAïGHI
Editeur : CONNAISSANCES ET SAVOIRS
Collection : Sciences
Date parution : 10/2011An essential understanding of basic electronic concepts. The topics concern (i) diodes and diode circuits such as rectifiers, (ii) basic transistor principles such as biasing, operating point, load line, small signal analysis and (iii) amplifier's quadrupole presentation bringing into play the input and output impedances, the transfer function and their interaction. Coupling theoretical concepts and investigation with exercises and online lab sessions, the course structure follows the old and very true adage: 'I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand'. Well thought and perfectly clear, with rising difficulty levels, a must-have for every physics student.
Auteurs :Thomas Zimmer received the M Sc degree in physics tirom the University of Würzburg, Germany, in 1989 and the Ph D degree in electronics from the University Bordeaux 1, Talence, France, in 1992. From 1989 to 1990, he was with the Fraunhofer Institute, Erlangen, Germany. Since 1992, he is with the IMS Institute, Talence, France. Since 2003, he is Professor at the University Bordeaux 1. He has been (is) invoived in a couple of national and European research projects like the European MEDEA+ and ENIAC programs, and in National Research Agency (ANR) projects. In particular, he has initiated the European FP7 IP project DOTFIVE. At the IMS lab, he is the leader of the research group 'Nanoelecironies.' He is a cofounder of XMOD Technologies and Senior Member IEEE. He has served as a Reviewer for many journals and participated on the Program Committee of several conferences. He has published more than 100 scientific articles and contributed to 5 books. Sylvain Saïghi was born in Paris, France, in 1974. He received the M Sc Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Automatics from the University of Bordeaux 1. France, in 1998. He joined 'l'Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan' and he obtained the `Agrégation de Génie Electrique' in 1999. He received the Ph D degree in electronics from the University of Bordeaux 1, in 2004. His thesis was focused on analog integrated circuits dedicated to computational neurosciences. He also received the M Sc Degree in Cognitive Sciences from University Victor Segalen Bordeaux 2, France, in 2005. Since 2004, he is Associate Professor at the University of Bordeaux 1 and he does his research in the IMS Laboratory where he is the head of the 'Architecture of Silicon Neural Networks' group. The group's research focuses on analog circuits and systems as artificial neural networks. He has also authored and co-authored more than 30 peer-review publications. His carrent research is focused on spike timing-dependent plasticity in learning and on optimization algorithms to identify single neuron biophysic parameters. During training at the 'Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan' France, he obtained the 'Agrégation de Génie Electrique' in 1999. Dr. Saïghi received the Fulbright Scholar grant in 2010.
