Quel est le sujet du livre "Handbook of veterinary dermo-cosmetics"

Cosmetology is an ancient art that is currently being given pride of place in our society. But the benefits for dogs and cats are still a well-kept secret. Yet, there is a legitimate expectation on the part of the owners that their companion has a beautiful, silky coat and healthy skin. In the first parts, the authors set out the latest knowledge on the structure and functions of dog and cat skin and, in particular, the skin barrier (as well as factors to assess its integrity). The main dosage forms available in cosmetology are shown in light of these data. A large section is devoted to the place of cosmetics in maintaining healthy skin, but also in supporting dermatological treatments for skin problems (xerosis, seborrhoea, squamosis, etc.). The presentation of available active ingredients also makes it possible, in a devoted section, to better define the place of cosmetics in the treatment of atopic dermatitis, skin infections, seborrhoea, alopecia or other diseases. Finally, the reader will find an abundance of useful information pertaining to, for example, the legislative framework or updated tables of active ingredients and products currently marketed and available in France. This book, the first of its kind, is designed for veterinarians and veterinary students to help them take ownership of this booming discipline.
